quality of life

Definition of outcome measures (the difficultly translated word outcome). In the different studies on the prognosis of RA, both long-term and short-term, different outcome measures are used: structural damage, generally evaluated radiologically (presence of erosions or radiological progression) Keto Viante, disability (functional class of the ARA [now ACR], questionnaires such as the HAQ), quality of life, work disability, mortality, remission of the disease (or the inverse situation: persistence of the disease).

Not all prognostic variables will have the same strength if different outcome measures are used. Thus, for example, the rheumatoid factor is a first-order prognostic factor if the structural damage is evaluated, but it is not so evident if the degree of disability is analyzed.
